Civil Service part-time?

I'm looking at going back to work after being a SAHM for several years and some-one mentioned to me that the civil service has a lot of part-time and job share roles available. When I've searched for part-time roles they are all still coming back at 37 hours - is the idea that they are open to discussion of it being a job-share? Has anyone else done this? I've worked as a PA to a Director before and would be looking for a similar role.

Any other tips on applying for Civil Service jobs? I feel like I"m walking into this blind and might be slightly naive...

There is usually a contact on the job ad for civil service - you can ask them about part time hours. How part time are you wanting to be?

The other thing is to apply for the job then negotiate your hours when you get it. Personally I'd go for that. Be prepared to negotiate and compromise a bit, but generally in civil service I find new starters are pretty well accommodated for part time hours.
