Occupational maternity leave .

I have been offered a new job and I have asked them what is their maternity leave policy ? They said they pay occupational maternity leave I never heard this term before ! Can someone plz enlighten me

That means they pay more then SMP. They may then stipulate that you need to go back to work for a certain amount of time after maternity leave or you need to pay the extra back

You may also want to check the qualifying period as some organisations have one that is longer than smp - the policy may state for example that you need to have 2 years service to qualify for occupational maternity pay. Providing you meet the criteria for smp, you will still be entitled to that.
