shocked at how ineffective I feel going back to work

I haven't worked for ELEVEN YEARS. I have acquired out of the blue a part time contract. It's like my mind is on quarter speed. In my time away, I've gone from being a clever person to being a dull person. I feel like I'm creeping around the walls, unable to assert myself. I'm not vibrant or quick and my confidence has plummeted. Anyone else feel like this.

Well done on getting the contract, that's great after so long out of the workplace.

I understand how you feel. I had nine years out of the workplace and felt exactly the same about going back to work, especially the confidence thing. I was terrified at first!

But don't worry, I can assure you that your confidence will come back. You are just as clever as you were before, your mind is just as quick. The biggest hurdle is getting back into work and once you settle in it gets easier.

You'll be fine, you've got this. Best of luck.
