This interview is really badly planned?!?!?!

Was called for interview for a job today. I was last on the list (8 people being interviewed). We were all told to arrive at 10am.

Quick tour of the building and facilities with all interviewees and have now been sat in reception waiting for my interview for 2.5 hours!!!!!!! The 4th person has just gone in, I'm 8th!! So I assume I will be waiting for another 2.5 hours at least!

I am starving hungry and getting very moody! This process seems totally and utterly ridiculous?!?!

I'd nip out and get something to eat otherwise you'll be hangry!

bexcee · 17/10/2018 12:51

Sounds awful!
Can you go and get some lunch and come back?

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 17/10/2018 12:53

How long are you supposed to wait?

Maybe it's a test I. E. The last one really wants the job....

maxelly · 17/10/2018 14:02

I remember being interviewed very early on in my career for my first professionally qualified role. They did the same thing, gave us all a written exercise to do and a tour of the site in the morning then put us all in a tiny airless room to wait to be interviewed one by one - I was second last and was trapped there all day. I was too scared to leave in case I couldn't find my way back to the room on their massive site. This was pre-phones and laptops so we all just had to sit there twiddling our thumbs and reading the peeling health and safety posters for hours on end!

Why do employers not think these things through, they could at least have warned us that was what was happening (the invite had said it would be an all day assessment centre). Didn't get the job in the end either! I consoled myself with the fact that they were probably a pretty bad employer on other ways too... are you out yet OP?

Digdeep79 · 17/10/2018 14:33

I am truly getting hangry yes lol.

Nightmare!

Do you really want to work somewhere that disorganised and selfish?

Maybe it is a test - of how much nonsense you are willing to put up with!

LaurieFairyCake · 17/10/2018 14:49

I'd have left for a piss/tea/food 2 hours ago.

I'd honestly think it was a 'how much can we make this candidate kowtow to us' test.

Boyskeepswinging · 17/10/2018 19:30

Hope you've made it out alive!

And, yes, I agree that the lack of thought and planning would make me run for the hills. If they can't organise a stream of interviews or treat the interviewees decently it's unlikely to be an organisation you want to work for (says the voice of bitter experience).

Lotsalotsagiggles · 17/10/2018 22:26

What tine did you get seen in the end?

ItsAndTarts · 17/10/2018 22:28

Legend has it she's still sat waiting

IStandWithPosie · 17/10/2018 22:29
Shock

That has to be intentional. They can’t be that stupid to not have thought that through, can they?

AntiHop · 17/10/2018 22:33

I agree op. I think that's a rude way to treat candidates.

Digdeep79 · 18/10/2018 07:54

Hahah yes I'm still waiting Grin

Not really, I finally got called in at 3.30pm!!!!!! If I'm offered the post I don't think I'll take it after this. I was so hungry and thirsty (not even offered a drink) and felt awful.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 18/10/2018 07:55

An interview is also a test of whether you want to work for them. Don’t think this sounds like a sterling employer.

Boyskeepswinging · 18/10/2018 08:38

They didn't even offer you a drink?! Run ... run away ...

PrincessDando · 20/10/2018 18:01

I too have learned the hard way that treatment of you during the application process can be a good prediction of how they will treat you once employed. OP that's pretty shocking they didn't even offer you z drink!

yorkshirepud44 · 20/10/2018 19:46

What on earth.. ? Totally agree, huge indicator. Don't work for them.

User1011 · 21/10/2018 17:34

Its not a job where your going to be respected, is it?

mostdays · 21/10/2018 17:39

I hope they offer you the job so you have the pleasure of declining. What a way to run an interview day.

Fundays12 · 21/10/2018 17:42

I was a Recruitment Manager for years and would never have led an interview like that. They sound so unprofessional and disorganised plus awful to work for.

Polarbearflavour · 21/10/2018 18:15

Some companies are so arrogant and think people are so desparate for work that they treat candidates like crap.

Surprised that companies aren’t charging employees for the honour of working for them.

Digdeep79 · 21/10/2018 18:24

It's Sunday now and I'm still waiting.... jokes haha

Totally agree with you all, not a chance I will accept the job. I will be called tomorrow with the results apparently!

OP posts:
User1011 · 21/10/2018 19:33

Don’t wait around for the call!

happinessischocolate · 25/10/2018 14:37

I went for an interview like this, it was doing the accounts for an independent school, got there and had to wait 45 minutes for a pupil to arrive to show us round, did a tour with 3 others then got left in the library, I was last to go in and had to wait 2.5 hours for my interview. Interview was also full of crap questions.

When they called to tell me I didn't have the job they offered me feedback which I accepted, apparently I didn't get the job as other candidates had seemed more eager and interested than me and I didn't sit forward in the chair well that was because my back was hurting from the crappy seats in the library and I wasn't eager cos I was fucked off and hungry. They were advertising the same role again within 6 months.

Chuggachuggatoottoot · 25/10/2018 14:42

It's not NHS by any chance is it?
