Has anyone every successfully reversed a proposed redundancy? You know when they do the consultation and you can offer alternatives, has anyone ever convinced their employer to keep them on?

I was a manager and had to make a number of redundancies due to the work being offshored (not my decision to offshore). Anyway, I announced the proposed new structure and the consultation period started.

One member of the team made a submission, in writing as per process, explaining in some detail why he thought the role he occupied would still be required. I reflected carefully upon it and agreed and put it back in. That is what consultancy period is for. :-)
