How does shared parental leave work?

So I have full pay for the first six months of maternity, going down to 90% for next six weeks, then statutory for seven weeks after, then no pay for last three months.

My husband gets 90% for first six months.

If I took the first six months off on maternity leave and he took the next six months on paternity leave, would we get my full pay for the first six months then his 90% for the next six months? Or does it not work like that?

You get 52 weeks of leave to share but not pay.

There’s only 39 weeks of pay available, so if you had the first 26 weeks at full pay then your DH could have 13 weeks at full pay and 13 weeks of no pay (assuming he also wanted 6 months off)

Sorry, it should have been 90% pay for your DH.

It doesnt work like that. You taking 6 months would be deducted from his 6months. So you use the first 24 weeks and that uses up his first 24 weeks.

Thank you both!
