I have been mostly a sahm for the past four years, although I do some evening and weekend work in hospitality.

Long term, I want to go back to university to become a nurse.

A job has come up for a HCA role in an adolescent mental health unit.

I have no experience of working in healthcare at all, although I did care for my mother who had some quite serious mental health problems, so have a little experience of MH issues.

I have spoken to staff at the unit and they said that no experience is required, so I would be welcome to apply. I went to visit the unit last week and it seems like an amazing place to work, though, of course, very challenging too.

Obviously it’s a big undertaking and it would be very different to my previous, very corporate, role, (pre dcs).

I feel I need to think it through properly before I apply and wonder if anyone on here has any experience of working in this area who could offer some advice.
