Hi All, so I currently work in a part time role, doing 23 1/4 hours with a gross monthly wage of £1233.33, net after tax etc £1090.97. I’m trying to find out what my net wage would be if I went down to 20 hours, as I don’t know how much tax would be deducted... can anyone help please? :-)

By my calculation I get:

monthly gross wage £1233.33 x 12 = annual gross wage £14799.96
20 hrs = 0.86 of 23.25 hours
0.86 x 14799.96 = £12731.14

Plugging that into the moneysavingexpert tax / NI calculator suggests takehome of £993 per month.

But you might want to check my maths!!!

Well you’d get around £1060 gross for 20hrs but the net isn’t something you can work out based on the figures you’ve given.

Assuming you’re were on the bog standard tax code 1185L you should be taking him around £1120 on your current income so there’s clearly other deductions to consider

X post with Sadik!

As DragonMamma points out given your current gross wage there must be deductions other than standard PAYE/NI - maybe pension/student loan?
If you ask whoever does your payroll they should be able to work it out for you accurately though.

I get the same net for your current gross; it looks like you are paying 3% in to a pension scheme.
I think you would receive £1060.93 gross and £977.99 net for 20 hours per week.

You lot are wonderful, yes I do pay in a pension scheme :-) dont want to ask my boss what I’d get as I’ve already changed my hours before and don’t want to upset her yet... lol!

Thank you so much everyone 👍
