Accept a £2k a year paycut to change jobs to a job with more training opportunities?

Or is a pay cut always a bad thing?

New job is also offering flexibility to allow for school runs which would mean less hours so less money on a pro-rata basis but less childcare costs too.

Yes I would definitely take a pay cut under these circumstances, if I could afford it - although bear in mind the off-set of childcare plus the future potential due to the training.

Thanks, it’s good to hear I’m not mad for considering it.

I’m looking at it in a ‘speculate to accumulate’ type basis. The training is worth a good few thousand depending how far I take it.

Thanks

It's less about the 2K cut, and more about the big picture of all outgoings that might be avoided, and don't forget you don't actually get the total 2k in your hand if you have to pay tax and NI on it.

Managed to get it with only 0.5k cut and MUCH better hours than I currently work :)
