Hey! Can anyone give me advice i have been with my company for 7 years and recently they've cut everyones hours so after having my hours cut by more than half i decided to take on a second job around my usual set shifts! I gave my current employer my new availability thinking there wont be a problem as i have worked round my shifts i normally get not interfering with my current job in the slightest and i have been very loyal to them! She declined my new availability and told me me it's my new job or this one i explained i cant live of a part part time wage it's not doing any harm to your rotas ect so we had a bit of a tiff and i said well i'll hand in my notice and her reply was "okay" no plea to help work things out nothing! So i have decided to leave but i dont want to work my notice as i cant bare working beside her again if i leave with immediate effect will i still get paid for the hours so far that i have worked? I dont have anymore holidays to take so i wont lose out on any holidays any advice will be appreciated thank you

What does your contract state? I.e how much notice do you have to give? Are you on zero hours if they’ve cut everyone’s hours?

They still have to pay you for what you have worked plus any accrued holiday pay.

They can take you to court for breach of contract though... it is very rare but does happen occasionally

”She declined my new availability”

That doesn’t make sense, if, as you say, the new job is around your current hours.

It’s fairly unlikely your employer will take any legal action although clearly you can kiss goodbye to a good reference in the future. They do have to pay you for hours worked.

@flowery she said it was unfair to give me set availability she's just doing it to be an idiot
