Career change at 30. Ideas?

Any ideas for a career change? I am currently working for a company doing finance related work earning about 24k a year. I have a degree in marketing but got it 7 years ago so its pretty useless now as I never found related work and got too comfortable in my current job. I currently hate my job due to recent changes and am feeling anxious and miserable about a job I used to love.

Any ideas on what I can retrain to do in my 30s? I can't seem to find anything at the 24k mark or above when I look at jobs.

you could always do an online degree in something else, giving you a wider range of options. what about media planning? that fits with your current degree.

Train to be a Chartered Accountant?

It sounds like it's the environment in your current workplace that has deteriorated, rather than not liking your role (as you said you used to enjoy it).

Wouldn't it be better to find a similar role, just in a different company. That might get you into a new environment where other internal job opportunities are available. Sometimes getting your foot in the door is a good start.

Just concerned to recommend a complete career shift, if it means you aren't able to find work while you are retraining, and if your current experience can't be put to good use elsewhere.

I agree with @daisychain01. Of course it depends on where you are in the county as to what opportunities there are.

Another thing you could do (depending on what the changes were where you are now) is look for a lateral move or some development opportunities at your current place of work.
