Should I accept the company's offer?

The head of the commercial construction of the publishing company I am currently working is resigning and the said position has been offered to me. I’m giving it a second thought though since I’m only working here for two years. Also, I have co-workers who worked longer than me and are more deserving than me. I don’t want to create tension in the office, however, my parents encouraged me to accept it because they think I deserve it. Even a foreign colleague of mine told me to take the offer. I really don’t know if I should.

There is no guarantee one of your co-workers would get it if you turned it down. They might recruit someone from outside. And, although you think they are more deserving, your employers want you. Why are your colleagues more deserving? Because they have worked there longer? That doesn't mean they would be better at the job. Promotion at most companies isn't about time served. It is about whether or not you are the right person to do the job. You should also be aware of the risk that, if someone else takes the job, they may regard you as a threat and find a way to push you out or get you to leave.

Your family and a colleague have told you to take the job. I'm not sure why you are asking a load of internet randoms but you have already been given good advice. You should take the job.

Longer Service does not equal competence. You've obviously proven yourself, while your colleagues have not. Go for it (if you wanted to outside of possibly offending colleagues).

Of course go for it! They have offers you the job because they think you'd be the best at it.

You'll regret it in a few years if you turn it down incase you upset someone. They offered it to you because they think you'll be the best, go for it!
