Redundancy following maternity

I have been informed in February that my job was at risk of redundancy. I was on maternity leave at the time. My maternity ended in April, I then commenced sick leave. My employer refused to offer me alternative employment, as they said my maternity ended in April, so they felt they didn't have duty towards me, as I was able to participate in recruitment as everyone else. I dont think i would have equal chances in recruitment as i have b
een away from the business for over a year, and was off sick with PND during recruitment period. I feel that I have received " at risk" notice during maternity and was on maternity throughout the consultations, I feel that its unfair to leave me with nothing.

Give the charity maternity action a call - they have a free advice line who can talk you through this as it’s not always that straight forward. They will be able to advise whether it’s likely that your employer acted improperly and/or if there is a potential claim to be made.
