Childminder to contact centre 😬

Would I be mad?! I was thinking of getting out of childminding next year but a large local employer are doing a big recruitment drive... Pay is £20k, a good 9k more than I'm making now, calls are inbound only. I've applied and got through to interview. I'm nervous as hell though, I've been doing this job for 7 years and was a stay at home mum for 4 years before that. Are contact centres as hellish as people say, even with no sales? Anyone made the jump from childminding who can reassutre me their kids coped? Mine are 14, 12 and 8 so not tiny. Thanks!

First thing I'd want to check is if it's commission based or a guaranteed salary.

If the later and your happy to have a change then I'd go for it.

DH and DS both work in call centres, they're not so bad. Quite good team solidarity, some managers are better than others but it's no worse than any other large office.

Both salaried, btw, with occasional bonuses.

Definitely salaried. And also a well known springboard into other areas of the organisation. That's good to hear haggis, the training is very comprehensive too. I have enjoyed being self employed though, it'll be odd having to just follow other people's rules.
