Best recruitment agency for professionals

iheartmichellemallon · 22/07/2018 20:08

Looking for recommendations of recruitment agencies to sign up with. I'm Midlands-based & in a very senior role, so looking for agencies that cater to professionals.

Not currently desperate for a new job but want to keep my options open as think I will need a new job soon! TIA.

OP, I think the answer will vary depending on your industry / profession as most recruiters seem to be industry / role focused in my opinion.

Industry is energy / utilities but I'm a generalist so I'm not sure industry matters that much.

You’re in a very senior role and you have no contact with any headhunters?

And it’s not about “signing up”, it’s about them getting to know you over years as you build your career into a very senior role, so they can genuinely represent you.

How senior is “very senior”? What’s your base?

iheartmichellemallon · 22/07/2018 20:51

I don't know any head hunters as I've worked for the same company for quite some time. Base is six figures plus significant bonus. I've not been proactive in looking for a new job in a very very long time, so genuinely looking for advice on how best to go about things.

For my profession (not yours, and not in your area), there are a handful of real specialists, who recruit for jobs in specialist firms and for in-house roles across every sector.

So hey'll place you even in more generalist companies, because of your specialist skills.

In your situation, I'd ask a few contacts who they rate in your particular circumstances, and go from there.

Thanks fala - my problem is trying to keep it all very low key & under the radar, so not wanting to mention it to anyone I know professionally & most of my friends are SAHMs, so not in a position to offer advice.

Thanks anyway though.

If you put the search terms "recruitment consultants energy and utilities" into Google, it brings up a few big players such as Michael Page ( who I know are specialists in finance and accountancy, but seem to have diversified. ). They cover these roles in your sector -

Administration and business support
Engineering
Finance and accountancy
Human resources
Legal
Manufacturing
Marketing
Procurement
Sales
Technology

daisychain01 · 22/07/2018 22:32

Not sure if that helps?

iheartmichellemallon · 22/07/2018 22:38

Thanks Daisy.

At the level you describe, Odgers is a national headhunter.

Thanks Hermione.
