Would love to tell my boss to f*** off! How do you make your living from being self employed?

So I have a job that I hate. Mainly because I have a bully of a boss (that's probably a thread for another day which would probably start with something like 'AIBU to think it's wrong for my boss to send me text messages at midnight telling me off for something minor').

There's very limited work around where I live, or certainly the type of work I do, so I've been trying to think of something I could do myself. I've attempted two self employment options, both with limited success. I feel a bit like giving up but I'm hoping you have some nice inspirational stories to help me pick myself up and try again.

It depends a lot on the skills you have to offer, but it sounds like you're keen to work for yourself (as you've already tried) but maybe need more support to make a go of it - have you thought of running a franchise? It's maybe something to consider to give you the best of both worlds. If you look at the Working Mums website there are lists of franchises in all sorts of different fields.

Thank you for replying. Sorry for the delay - I didn't realise anyone had replied! I'll take a look, but yes I'd love to be my own boss!

OP, what were your previous ventures and why do you think they weren't successful. What are your skills and passions?
