Maternity Allowance

Hello!

A friend of mine is on Maternity Allowance and is self employed. She was wondering how much work she can do in this period of time? I've looked in to it and it looks like 10 days to me, but she thinks she can still collect Maternity Allowance for the full time and run her business and take income from that. Does anyone know where do you get advice about this?

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks

www.gov.uk/government/publications/maternity-benefits-technical-guidance/maternity-benefits-technical-guidance#maternity-allowance-ma says if you work more than 10 days then payments stop:

Working in yourMAP

If you work during yourMAPyou must tell Jobcentre Plus of this work as soon as possible. You are allowed to work for 10 days during yourMAPand still keepMA(see Keeping in Touch days below). If you work for more than 10 days you must not collect any more money. The decision maker will decide whether any further payments can be made, but you will loseMAfor at least the number of days you work over the 10 days allowed.

Thanks Pixie, that's what I thought, just wondered if I was misinterpreting it!
