Hi,

My maternity leave is running out and I actually want to work 16-20 hours per week. But how do I find a recommended and registered childminder??? Have started asking people in the street but it's taking time... Help! (Our lovely son is now six months).

Our council (Barnet) has a Children's info service, which keeps a list of approved childminders. Try your HV; she might have a contact number for something similar. I got all the info because I'm thinking of doing childminding myself, as a way to earn some p/t money and keep ds with me!

Hello peamo, haven't 'seen' you around for ages. Hope ds is ok. Hackney also has a childcare information service, have a look on their website here . I found them useful when I went back to work. HTH.

Hi Hoxtonchick, Have been busy on holiday, finding a new flat, looking for work and childminder... and of course looking after the very active little one. Started to look at nurseries, as he is so active and might like it, just a bit unsure if we can afford it. Might depend on tax credits so that's another thing to look into... piuh... but it should all work out for the best! Take care!

Sounds like you've been busy. Are you in the Dalston SureStart area? Definitely worth investigating too.
