do you love your job? What do you do?

I’m thinking about a career change. I’d really like to find out more about different career options, as I’ve not looked at anything so far and thought ‘wow, I’d love to do that.’ There’s nothing I can imagine doing where I’d genuinely look forward to work.

So, for those of you who genuinely love your job, what do you do, and what is your average day like?

I love my job, but I appreciate it’s not for everyone. Every day is endlessly varied and full of challenges. There is no downtime though. I’m on holiday (officially) but I still spent two hours clearing emails and an hour on a conference call.

(Work as an accountant for a big four firm).

Pre school teacher. Absolutely love my job- well, the children. Not always the parents. In general though, I wouldn't change it for the world.

I love mine. Some days are awful of course and it can be very difficult at times but it's so so worth it. Mental health nurse.

I work in a supermarket deli counter...so not so much a career change as moving from a job to a career

People manager in a large multi-national.

I love it because I love people ... how they tick, what motivates them, figuring out how to get the best out of someone, or helping them see that they're better than they think

Comes with its headaches & stress, but on balance, all worth it

Hannah4banana · 10/07/2018 10:55

I'm a firefighter and I absolutely love it. 4 on then 4 off x 7 then 18 days off too. Not been sick in 5 years and I used to take sickies all the time in my last job. Think that's shows the difference.

grumpy4squash · 10/07/2018 13:49

I make new cancer drugs (as in discover them, not manufacture them).

Love mine - Operations Director in the business I run with DH. No day is the same, I look after HR, Finance, H&S, and much more, including overall policies, procedures, working practices and forward planning for the company.

Prior to this I worked as an Executive Assistant at a publishers. Loved this too. Ops Director was the natural step forward.
