New employer REFERENCES WORRY

anyone know about the references situation - I have been offered a new role and gave a generous 6 weeks - due to start new role end of July and the new MD has not applied for a reference with my old LM!!

Requested, confirmation from new employer what the situation is todate and I have not received anything apart from confirmation that they want me to stay for a week for induction and traning (its 4 hours away from home) - this was from another employee which was part of the interview process.

HAS anyone else been in this situation??

Your post is confusing as you aren't clear what the problem is.

Is your new job offer conditional on acceptable references, or have they made you a firm offer but still want to take up references?.

Fact is you need a written offer, and you need to serve your contractual notice period with your present employer from when you've resigned. If they are pressing you to attend training courses on dates falling within your notice period, then you need to tell them it doesn't work for you.

And if they haven't given you a written offer with a formal start date, plus they haven't taken up the references, then dont resign until they get their act together.
