Support Worker - Adults with Learning Disabilities

Does anyone work with adults with learning disabilities in their own home ( supported living). I have been offered a 20 hour a week contract and am feeling a bit apprehensive as I have never done this type of work before. Is there the expectation to work extra hours often? Those of you with children, how do you work around the shifts and weekends? My shifts I think are either going to be 8am to 3pm or 3-10pm. It is the late shift I am worried about the most in terms of who will be around for the children (youngest is 10, eldest is 13).

Any experiences (good or bad) much appreciated.

DH does this for 2 companies, he generally enjoys it.whether they want you to work extra will depend on existing team , set up.difficult to say.
If you have no one else to cover child care, you might need to ask if they would consider early shift only.not likely , but worth a try .
