What to wear for a interview in this heat

What do people suggest to wear for a interview in this hot weather? I would usually wear smart dress & blazer or skirt & blouse with blazer but too hot for a blazer at the mo and wondering if will still look smart enough . Don’t want them thinking not trying but at the same time don’t want to be hot It’s a office job and I have to go back to work after so no time to change. Thanks

Sorry but you've got to tough it out, even if it means you're a bit uncomfortable for an hour or so. All in a good cause, you need to give a good impression and they'll mentally give you brownie points for KOKO in the hot weather. Don't complain you're too hot either!

Are you travelling by car? If so, you could wear a skirt and short sleeved blouse, or dress, and add your jacket at the last minute.

Just don't wear the jacket when you return to work. Simples.

Yes traveling by car I’ll do that then . Is it ok not to wear tights just bear legs ? My skirt is knee length so would that be ok?

Eek personal choice I'm afraid, but personally I would wear them for the interview (if you have nude colour with a sheen that can look great). I thinks it's a confidence thing for me, I tend to play things very safe. Not sure what the "MN protocol" is, but that's my fwiw preference.

You can always remove them before going back to work afterwards. Just not in the car park after you leave the interview Grin

It seems a lot cooler today.

All the very best for the interview, knock 'em dead!

I was going to a job interview yesterday and had laid out my clothes the day before (when my current boss pleaded with me not to go. I didn't go and regret it now but thats another story).

I was wearing: sleeveless blue dress, just below knee, nude 8 denier tights, a shorter summer smart jacket, medium heels).

I only felt professional with tights and jacket.

How I wish I'd gone. Good luck and remember it's a tint amount of time for what could be a long future there.

Wear tights but put them on last minute and take them off when you’re finished. Same with blazer.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips its on Monday hopefully won't be as warm but if it is I'll do as suggested. The interview is like 5 mins away from my current job so could walk but may just park round the corner so I can leave my blazer in car .thanks

If it helps I spend my life holding interviews for new recruits at the moment and I would much rather someone come in without blazer and tights than wear them and be sweating.

Wouldn#'t even notice the no tights things to be honest!

daisychain01 · 29/06/2018 11:33

Derelict The difficulty is not knowing whether the interviewer will take your pragmatic approach, or make judgements. Looks like Monday's temps back to more manageable 23-24 F average.

Pray for a nice air conditioned office for your interview 😃

I just conducted a round of interviews and when people came in we let them know that they could take off their jacket if they wanted as it was so hot. I would wear one for first impression purposes. Good luck!

Thanks everyone I wore my blazer but no tights, blouse and pencil skirt , tidy hair and natural makeup and funnily enough I wasn't nervous .
I was the last one of 10 to be interviewed and was offered the job so v happy . Your advise must of helped.
Now I've just got to hand my notice in.

Congrats! You've also busted the tights/interview myth.

poppaea · 03/07/2018 18:28

I know M&S used to do summer tights that were 7 denier and really cool so perhaps those? I would wear a dress and jacket but travel in the dress only and slip on the jacket just before going in. Good luck!

Sorry! New here and didn't see your post but congratulations on your new job! I hope it is a really happy place for you!
