I have been job hunting for a few weeks I'm employed but I don't like where I work anymore my boss is a nutter. Anyway been for 5 interview in total last one still waiting on a answer it went really well but the fact I haven't heard anything yet makes me think I haven't got the job (the interview was on Monday) the recruitment agency said they are still waiting to hear back and will chase up. All the feedback from from past interviews has been positive no negative so don't know what I'm doing wrong. I wish I was told if I haven't got the job so I can prepare for my next interview which is on Monday. Its hard to keep making excuses getting out of work too not sure if they are suspicious but I hate lying.I'm determined not to give up and the right jobb will be along soon . Does anyone else have this problem and any tips ?

If the interview was this Monday and we are now Thursday, you need to be realistic about the time taken for the recruitment process.

  • There could be other candidates
  • A key decision-maker may be out of the office, on leave, off sick
  • They may have had to switch focus on other priorities if they are a small company setup.

I wouldn't start worrying until at least mid next week. I know that will feel like a long time to wait, but that's job hunting I'm afraid.

And try not to think of people in terms of "a nutter", not least of all your employer, it doesn't show you in a good light.

Keep trying, even if you're disheartening atm. The right job will come up, it's a numbers game.

I was probably a bit harsh calling her a nutter but trust me it’s not a nice place to work . I know you are right and thanks for the advice just sounding off I’m keeping it to myself about interviews I’ve not even told my OH about latest interview just want to hear some good news soon. I’m probably being impatient but I’d rather know if I’ve not got the job and experience that usually they know pretty quickly. Thanks
