Hi Everyone,
So to cut a long story short 2 months ago I took a new full time job for a small business with great pay, it is quite a career switch. I had already been running my own side business (quite profitable but only providing 60% required income) but I thought this job offer was too good to turn down so I am juggling the two currently.
I was having doubts about my business before, because I kept thinking I should really 'have a profession' under my belt, hence taking the new role.
Well I have realised it's actually quite an under stimulating role and I am quite bored each day...I suppose it is going to be in comparison to running your own business plus I used to have a very busy managerial role prior.
However, everyone I work with is so lovely, my boss is great and I have really clicked with everyone and its great having money again.
Another spanner, I have just found out I'm pregnant... amazing news but now I don't just have my 'happiness' to think about.
- Should I stay in my job and take statutory maternity pay (even through I don't really intend on coming back because I am really not that passionate about the role....)
- Should I quit my job soon and keep building up my business to a level it can sustain our family, I would still be eligible for maternity allowance but is this financial suicide?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who may have been in this situation before.
Thanks!
