What counts as a suitable alternative employment?

I’m being made redundant whilst on mat leave. The same job title has been advertised. However the pay is less. In terms of what the job entails, it’s basically the same role. Would the fact that it’s a lower wage ( around 10% less) mean that it’s not a suitable alternative and hence they don’t have to pay offer it to me?

So as not to drip feed, I want the position but haven’t been offered it, it’s gone to an internal candidate who isn’t being made redundant.
