Applied for job. Got interview for next week. Out of the blue i received an email yesterday with online aptitude test details on it.

I logged on tonight to do them. I completely f-ed up the last one (logical problem solving . I did the examples and thought i had it but after the first couple I just blew it. I'm so embarrassed. Do you think the interview will be cancelled? The other 5 went fine (verbal etc).

It's highly unlikely your interview will be cancelled.

Those types of tests are normally used in conjunction with, not instead of an interview. Recruiting managers place more emphasis on the actual interview rather than the test.

If you know you messed up, you could emphasis your problem solving skills in the interview.

Thanks Empress. I appreciate the reassurance. There is a lot of prep required for the interview and I don't want to put hours into it if I don't stand a chance from the off.

Worst thing is I have an engineering background 🙄

Perhaps be honest with them that test conditions are stressful for you and you didn't perform your best.
