Help needed to understand part time letter

Parttimedilemma · 18/06/2018 21:40

Background - I work in a school as a TA with a full time contract (5 days a week, term time only) last year I requested reduced hours to help me care for a family member. I was given a fixed-term contract until summer 2018, returning to 30 hours from Sept 18. The letter I was given stated that I could request to continue working part time after that and my request would be reviewed based on staffing requirements.

I have just requested for my part time hours to continue - they have kindly agreed for it to continue until summer 2019, but I then have to return to 30 hours (5 days) after that.

My question is do I have any rights to request that the PT hours are a permanent fixture or do I have to sign the letter agreeing to return to a FT role Sept next year?

By that time I will have been working PT for 2 years, does anyone have any advice how I can continue the PT role longer term?

I hope the MN experts can help me out here!
