Counter offer

Not an employment issue as such but i need some advice. Had a successful interview for a new role and was offered a good salary for that role. I accepted but then my current employer offered a generous counter offer. When i told the new job they have asked if I would consider another counter offer but i don't know how to word a reply saying tht I would without seeming as though I have done it on purpose to start a bidding war. Please can anyone advise? I don't want to seem manipulative or grabby

Go back to new employer and say you’d really like to take the job (if you do!) and for another 3k/more hols/flexitime - whatever’s important to you - you’ll sign the contract straightaway.

I always negotiate more hols, as that’s more important to me than salary.

How do i word it without sounding like I'm being grabby? Sorry, I'm painfully modest and British and this goes against all of my instincts haha

Which role do you actually want?

DontTouchTheMoustache · 18/06/2018 15:49

I would prefer the new role as it is working for a charity but the benefits are not as good as my current role. Plus I have anxiety and starting a new job scares me a lot so i think i want the new one but i am being pulled back by that feeling of being comfortable

If you didn't want to leave your current job you wouldn't have applied for other ones (unless the issue was solely money/benefits)

So negotiate for as much as you can but I think you should take the new job!

Must be great to be the subject of a bidding war.
