Negotiating price for snacks and drinks for meeting at hotel

Could anyone please give me an idea of how much I can expect to budget for snacks and drinks at a business meeting I have been asked to organise? It is taking place at a 4* hotel and I requested some snacks such as finger sandwiches, crisps and some soft drinks, tea and coffee during the evening. Their response was to propose a £30 p/h sandwich buffet! As I have zero experience in this field, I would be grateful for advice.

How many attendees?

Why don't you find out what your allocated budget is first.

£10-12 depending on area a bit, this would be south west buffet prices

Are you paying room hire?
Typically pay £25 a head for coffee am and pm and a light sandwich lunch plus room hire.

Thanks for the quick answers!
MidiMitch: About 30 attendees, for about 10 evening work sessions while staying at the hotel for business.
Weemouse: The problem is that I haven't made the bookings so don't have much to go on - only been asked now to ensure snacks are available. As such, the budget will stretch to whatever it needs to, within reason.
