Yes - enjoy that you have a job, and that they chose you because they considered you the right person!

Don't fear it, embrace it - and enjoy doing it. Enjoying your work makes a huge difference to your wellbeing.

Try to get a good night's sleep and set your alarm to give yourself plenty of time to wake up without rushing, have a cup of tea and breakfast. Make sure you know where you are going and where you are going to park. I'm sure you will be absolutely fine. First days are a bit overwhelming sometimes so something you can just shove into the oven for dinner tomorrow night might be a good idea.

Have you cleaned out / packed your handbag with anything you might need? Made sure your mobile is charged and ready?

Congratulations and best of luck. My tip would be - don't be afraid to ask questions if you're unsure what you're doing, even if you feel it might be a silly question. Ask, and you can't go wrong.

Take a notepad and write everything down (although not verbatim!). It really helps to have a point of reference.

Try to remember that people don't expect much of you on day 1.

Hope our suggestions help Claret. Why not have a lovely leisurely shower tomorrow morning with a really nice shower gel and apply some nice perfume / makeup. Lay out your work clothes tonight and make sure you have everything you need, nothing worse than trying to get ready and then realising your stockings / lingerie / outfit / jewellery item etc is missing.

I was terrified my first day.

Tips: don't be afraid to ask for help, or to go over something again- it's better now then down the line.
Take a mug, disposable coffee cups in offices smell like mould.
Don't be drawn into bitching.

topcat2014 · 10/06/2018 20:33

Get your clothes ready now, and if needed make your packed lunch.
Check bag is ready (phone, wallet/purse etc).

Saves making the day any more stressful.

Get up half an hour earlier than you probably will once you get used to it.

That way you will leave home in an oasis of calm :)

Always better to be "too smart" on your first day than find you're too casual, especially if you'll be in a customer facing role. You can always dress down on day 2 onwards but day one is about creating those lasting impressions.

Enjoy being the new person, ask as many questions as you like, nobody will think it strange.

LemonysSnicket · 10/06/2018 23:48

Oh and I wrote everyone's names down on a seating plan in my notebook GrinBlush no awkward asking after 3 weeks

TornFromTheInside · 11/06/2018 18:33

Well - how did the first day go?

claret3189 · 11/06/2018 19:29

Hello oh it was daunting. I think because i had been working in my old role for 6 years it was a culture shock. I feel i have loads to learn which is a bit scary

Scary but good! Learning is fun :-)
And don't forget, you can also bring something to the table too and teach them about stuff you've learned elsewhere too!

Good luck tomorrow - Day 2!

LemonysSnicket · 11/06/2018 20:00
