Groupon advertising and websites

So I've recently started a fitness class and I want to advertise on Groupon! I am wondering firstly if you have to have a website to advertise with them?

Also if so I don't want to spend a lot on a website I have created one before for a different company I started so I can do it myself if need be. I'm wondering which sites are easy to use and cheap? Any ideas Smile

Anyone here that advertises on Groupon? I'm just wondering what type of commission they have charged you? They gave me an indication of 35-40% and said peter on the price can go down so I'm wondering if maybe I could negotiate with them abit Hmm

You will struggle to negotiate with a company like Groupon. You are probably Lt best spending your money on Facebook or Google advertising. Companies that advertise on Groupon are usually desperate for a reason.

Delilah - thank you for your reply. I have used a lot of Groupon deals in the past and had great service so I didn't feel the companies were desperate. I have tried Facebook advertising before and not had a massive response from it

I have a friend who used them. She made hardly anything from it and felt it was a bit of a disaster as she got loads of booking for very little return. Then the repeat business started to kick in and although she did it a while ago she still has a number of clients from this and had a lot of recommendations from people who told their friends about it. She has a really busy company now but still says it’s one of the best things she ever did.

Thank you for the reply. Exactly what you said is what I was thinking, I'm prepared not to make much money out of the Groupon deal but I'm hoping to retain clients which will help to grow the business in the long term :)

Well, as I said it worked really, really well for my friend. I mentioned your post to her and she said she was seeing one of the women she got from it the next day who has been a faithful customer ever since. But I don’t know anyone else who has tried it. Would you have much to loose giving it a go?

I have to pay to hire the studio, but it's not a lot so I think it's worth giving it a try. I've signed up with Groupon now so my deal should be live this week SmileSmile
