37.5 hours in a job nearer home, or stay part time 30 hours in a job further away?

I currently work 30hrs a week, the 30 hours being spread over 3 and a half days. This means I have half day Thurs and full day Friday off.
The commute is 10 miles each way.

A job has come up doing something similar, but higher wage bracket and full time. Plus it’s only a 10 minute drive away from home.

Im 52 and was hoping to reduce my hours in the future, kind of semi retirement, but is it worth going up to full time then reduce my hours again?
Is it worth it?
What would you do?

Only you can make this decision for you and your circumstances.

How long does each commute take? I know you've given the distance, but I can get to the edge of the next town where my workplace is (14miles) in the same time it can take me to drive across my own town (3miles) when it's rush hour. Is your 10 minutes still 10 minutes at 08:15? A shorter distance may not mean a shorter commute time.

How does money compare? What about annual leave? Are there other benefits, like private health insurance or flexible working options? Pension?

How do you feel about giving up that extra day and a half of your own time? Will the extra money compensate for what you're giving up? Do you do things in that time which would mean you spend the weekends doing housework?

You need to work out your priorities - time, money, interesting work, whatever - compare the jobs against what's important to you, which might not be the same as others.
