would you apply for a new job while ttc?

Interesting job might be coming up in my area, same employer so I'd keep my maternity rights but different unit.

I hadn't thought of a move yet because of inconveniencing people but a colleague recently successfully applied for and got a management job while in early pregnancy and no problems from anyone.

If I was actually pregnant I'd be up front about it but it seems a bit tricky when ttc. (got pregnant with dd v quickly, but could be different this time). Would you?

Yes. Deal with things as they happen, not as they might happen. Good luck

you just never know when you'll conceive or not......so much could happen or not....I'd say go for it. Good luck!

I did. I had been ttc for a couple of years and had had a mc. My travel to work was getting worse and I was getting tired, and I thought it was all contributing to me not concieving. So I applied for and got a new job. I got the job (teaching) around Easter time to start the following September. At the very start of the summer holidays I found out I was pg - must have been because my body had relaxed and was less stressed I guess. By the time I started at school I was about 10 weeks pg. Told the HM during first week and everyone was great about it.

Hi,I am about to start working in my dd school in September as a Special Needs Assistant, I was faced with same dilema, but you can't put life on hold. Until the 27th of August I will still be doing my full time Export Admin job, working 39 hours per week and getting paid peanuts, I have a DD aged 4, and have been ttc for nearly 2 years, I have PCOS and Endometriosis (It took us 5 years of sub-fertility treatment to concieve dd), so I can't just sit around waiting for things to happen, getting this part-time position in DD school, means I get all the holidays, can take her with me in the mornings and I will finish at lunch time, I'll come home and clean etc or will spend my afternoons having more blood tests and scans etc, (treatment) until I'm pregnant. If it was me, I would go for it. Good Luck

Agree - do both. I was doing both when I had my mc (and didn't get a new job either - bummer). The only thing I'd say is that the tiredness in the 1st trimester did interfere with the application process (but then, mine was a failing pg which required 12 hours sleep a day to keep up - and I work for 10 of the other hours!). But if it's just one application for just one opportunity, then go for it. It's your life that is your number one priority!

I was ttc when I was approached to move into a different area in my current company. Thought about it for a wee while and decided to go for it. However, at the same time as telling my soon-to-be boss (who was the one who had approached me) to say I would like to move in to his team but that he should also know that I was pregnant (at that point, only about 4 weeks), as I had conceived in between times. He knew before my parents! He was delighted for me, and in some respects it helped me get settled in to my new job, as I was very focussed on getting to grips with the new role before I went on leave and looked forward to getting back to it afterwards.

You can't put your life on hold. You don't know WHEN you will conceive, so I would continue to ttc AND apply for the job. Corss the next bridge if and wehn it happens!

Good luck

Thanks for your comments, I guess that was my gut instinct but because I wasn't really looking for a move its kind of out of the blue. Now getting all excited about the possibility..
