NHS start date

I have be offered a position in the NHS and will be attending an id check appointment next week so will discuss it with the recruitment team then but was just looking for opinions from others.
When I applied for the role the application asked for first start date available. I wrote September. At the assessment centre and interview nothing was mentioned about start date. When the manager called me to offer me the job she didn't mention waiting until September to start. She just said that she would call me after all the pre employment checks were complete to arrange a start date. Is it likely that they have missed this on my application form and I will get an earlier start date? Why do they ask if it's being ignored?
I'm very excited about the job and keen to start but unsure where I stand now and don't want to call the manager to ask aboit start dates while my offer can still be withdrawn.
Anyone have any insight into how the start dates work with NHS?

Thanks

What role have you applied for? I imagine that it’s nurse or health care assistant, they’ll be desperate for you to start ASAP

Your start date won’t be confirmed until your pre employment checks have been completed as your offer is subject to these (ie dbs references). I work in recruitment for the NHS.

It took HR forever to sort out my paperwork to start my job with the NHS. I had the interview and got the job in the April and I didn't start until the August !

24hl01 I know my start date won't be confirmed until after my checks but do you know if they pay attention to the part of the application form which asks for first possible start date during recruitment? I had arranged childcare for September and had things in place ready for then. If they don't take that part of the application form into account I will need quite a bit of notice to bring things forward so I am able to start work earlier.

Pigwitch gosh that took them a long time! I suppose it could take them until September to sort mine out then

Recruitment team don’t get involved in shortlisting so I can’t say whether or not the department would have paid attention to your start date. I would suggest emailing the person who is handling your pre employment checks and asking them to check with your manager if it is OK for your to start in September

Highly unlikely that anyone has noticed this or taken it into consideration.
