advice on business loans - anyone?

I'm looking to buy a business whihc is for sale but have never done so before. Does anyone know how I would go about getting a business loan? Does anyone know how much they would be prepared to lend iei how much of my own money would I need to put in? I know I would need a business plan but have no idea really where to begin. Any advice would be really welcome

I've been thinking about setting up my own business in the future and found loads of info on the smallbusinesses.co.uk website (i think that's it), as well as most banks and building societies (such as Alliance and Leicester and Lloyds) all have very good sections for finding stuff out - you have to register first though.Just try googling 'business loans'.
