I'm currently working in a field based/home based role where I work from home 50% of the time and travelling about the rest of the time. I love working in this way, love not being in the same place every day and love not having to be on the 9-5 treadmill.
But! I've got as far as I can in my current role and I'm bored with the job and need to move on to bigger and better things. However, field based roles are limited. The majority of roles in my area are office based.
I've got an interview for a job which sounds great in terms of content but is office based with very limited travel. It would be a great move for my career but I'm just not sure how I will cope with going back into an office environment where I have to be somewhere at 9, stay there il 5 and basically sit in the same position for 8 hours (or so) every day.
I don't know if i'm just being a wuss though and whether it's less of a big deal than i'm thinking. I feel like it's a choice between work environment and career progression.
Has anyone gone back into an office role after field or home based working and was it ok, or a shock to the system. And did you regret it?
