New job - stay or go?

Going to be a bit of a ramble...

I’ve been in my new job for one month. Moved here from London because DP is military. We are only planning to stay in this location for another 18 months before we move to another huge base that he can probably stay at for the rest of his career - or in that area anyway.

My new job is a very small office - I am used to big corporate offices. This one is part of a wider, national organisation.

My problems are: I’m not sure I like my manager, the work itself is routine and very boring and not what it was described as - think lots of finance. There are whole days at a time where I’m just on my own in the office. I’m finding myself having lots of travelling to other places and overnight trips. And I just don’t like it generally! The atmosphere, culture etc.

I’m wondering if I should look at temping or fixed term jobs here? It’s an area with not much around it and not a lot of jobs. Salaries are also lower. Where we will be moving to next year is a lot closer to London, more jobs, better jobs and higher salaries.

Or do I give this job a bit longer? I have already applied and got interviews for some more corporate, professional jobs.

DP is very understanding. Financially we would be fine if I got a part time job. I just want to find something that I half like Sad I feel like I’ve taken a step backwards career and salary wise to be here with DP Sad But I do LOVE living with him in our own house here! I miss the City, wearing nice clothes to work and I’ve basically taken a 15k salary cut even if the cost of living is much lower here.

On paper my current job sounds quite good so I suppose I can expand on that on my CV.

Personally (and as an ex Forces wife myself..Dh now ex Forces not ex husband!) I wouldn't bother staying in a job that bored me for the sake of 18m unless the job would give me amazing prospects afterwards!

If you have interviews elsewhere...go for them!

I generally like to stick at things a while, but have just given notice after only 7 weeks in a new job, precisely because I'm bored stupid and the job means it isn't going to change. I'm going back on supply at my old job until something comes up that really makes me think WOW as even though it is more money than previously, I am just not enjoying it and life is a slog without being bored all day!

Good luck wither way :)
