Of course it’s natural to be worried, feel insecure and have a I can’t do this wobble
Most folk will be anxious starting a new job
Take a small notebook write important stuff down
Take your own cup and tea/coffee til you know how all that works, and no social faux pas of using wrong cup

You were hired because they believe in you and think you can do it. Google imposter syndrome if you haven't heard of it Smile

I thought I was pretty calm about my new job. In hindsight I don't think I was at all, think it was a subconscious trick of the mind to get me through.

I hate starting new jobs, hate the uncertainty of it all, but remember they should have an indiction or training programme of some sort in place. Don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone is new at some time! Give it a month or so and you'll soon feel settled. Good luck.

And yes you got the job as you met the JD and person spec and did good interview
Some self doubt is ok,try keep it in check so you’re not immobilised
And yes most folk get imposter syndrome

Fake it til you make it. Everyone feels a bit "new girl/new guy" nerves, it will get better. How was your first week? The nice thing is you can ask a load of naive questions without feeling stupid because you can keep reminding people that you're new Smile

It’s always scary, and yet it’s always ended up ok :)

claret3189 · 12/05/2018 08:56

Hey claret so you've been offered the job - bask in that glory, that's a brilliant achievement. Don't self-sabotage by worrying about not being good enough. You are good enough already. For a start you've got through the maze that is the recruitment process and you've obviously spoken about your experience. So, see this as the start to the next phase of your career.

As for handing in your notice, to my mind that's rather a satisfying part of the whole process, because you're taking your services elsewhere as your current employers haven't done enough to make you want to stay Smile. Their bad!

Feel the fear and do it anyway, to quote Susan Jeffers.

daisychain01 · 12/05/2018 11:26

you've obviously spoken impressively about your experience.
