Hello I wasn't sure where would be best to post this so hopefully someone can help!

I return back to work in 3 weeks time so I have been expressing milk as much as I can. My mum is having the baby one day a week 8-5 and will be out and about with her.

My question is, how long does breast milk last out of the freezer in her changing bag? I guess it will be room temperature? Will it last longer in a cool bag with freeze blocks to keep them as cold as possible as the milk bags won't be in the fridge.

Also when must they be thrown away?

I'm very clueless as I have a look online and lots of websites say different things. Any help and advice appreciated Smile

Have a look at this information sheet. There's a bit about cool bags under the safety storage heading. www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/wp-content/pdfs/BFNExpressing_and_Storing.pdf

Hope it helps

I always went with the 6,6,6 thing - 6 hours at room temp, 6 days at the back of the fridge, 6 months in the freezer.
