How long should a Person Specification supporting statement be?

I'm applying for a role with the Local Authority which requires a person spec for 18 competencies. There is no guidance in the notes as to an estimate of the length this should be.
I can be a bit of a waffler so I'm anxious to have an idea of what is too long or short?

I applied for a LA job under similar circumstances recently; I just picked a few of the main competencies and mapped my own skills to them. I got an interview for that role so it must have been acceptable!

I score LA job applications. We literally give points for each of the PS you hit within the application form.

For some of the PS it's fine to just say 'I work well in a team and understand the importance of having a shared goal' (type answer) but pick a few and give examples.

The people with the highest scores get the interview.

Personally, one side of an A4 is enough

Approximately 1500 words.

I have been through automated application systems and not only is it fairly standard to refuse any statement over 1500 words, there are little warnings if the statement is deemed too short.

Golly! Sounds like I was lucky to get an interview, then - I probably wrote 800-ish words. Sorry for my poor advice!

Is 1500 words approx 3 sides of A4 ?

Isaulte yours must have been the right 800 words. I suppose it depends on the amount of points, this one has 18 competencies.

Can you merge some together eg 'ability to work in a team to bring about a positive outcome' and 'experience of leading a team to bring about succesful change' on mine I'd put the same example and write 'I have the ability to work with in a team, I currently lead a team to do xxx and through successful team working I brought about xxx change'.

Otherwise I'd do a short para using STAR situation/strategic aim, task, actions, result for each one.

yes, I'm doing the star method and when all done will see what are duplicated or very similar.
