Having to work with someone you dislike

I work in an office within a small team, male and female and while we are all different I think we all get on reasonably well together. Someone in the team is being moved and being replaced by someone else who works in our office, someone that I really dislike. Just everything about them makes me feel uncomfortable and while I have never said anything I don't think that I am very good at hiding my feelings.

I have spent the weekend worrying about that I am going to have to sit beside them and look at them, hear their annoying voice and interact with them about work. I am dreading it already. Off all the possible people that it could have been this is the worst possible choice of person for me. Anyone else been in a similar situation or have any tips on coping strategies?

Coping strategy: go in on Monday and treat them as if you didn't know anything about them and have to get to know them from scratch. We all create preconceived biased notions of who someone is, and maybe are blind to the fact they are different to what we've decided they are. It could be that you've been intent on perpetuating the fact you can't stand them and have let any positives go unnoticed.

Give it a few weeks, make an effort and if they are still as bad even after you've done your best, then you know you've tried then I give you permission to put laxative in their tea for good measure

Unfortunately this is part of office life and you'll get it anywhere. You have to suck it up, be polite and professional and usually it resolves itself in my experience.
I've sat next to some horrors biting my tongue in my time, so I do feel your pain.

What is it specifically that drives you mad, op?
