Hi mumsnetters, this is my first post on here but long time reader!
I have 2 ds (8 & 2) and dh works from home (that’s important). I’m currently doing a full time secondment in another team where I work. This is due to end in September at which point I will take a pay cut and revert down to 3 days a week in my old role. I have lost enthusiasm for the company (it’s a widely felt feeling amongst the staff) and started to look at new jobs. I was really lucky to get an interview quickly (too quickly for my head) and a subsequent job offer. The problem is that I hadn’t really thought about the full time or part time question until this weekend and now it’s all I can think about. The job I’ve been offered is full time and it seems to be almost perfect. However I’m very aware that I’m not going to be having any more children and if I don’t take the chance to spend time with them now I won’t be able to turn back time and fix that. Can anyone offer any advice? I’ve gone through an agency for the job and they have been really helpful but I feel absolutely torn about what to do (and also feel awful that I might have wasted people’s time).

I have worked both full and part time when my kids were little (they are older now so not an issue) and I have to say I would choose part time all day long! I cannot see me ever being happy working full time, I like to have a better balance ....I need it so part time all the way. Don't worry about the agency, it's what you need that counts.

I'd go part time personally. Plenty of time for work when the kids are older/have left home but you can never get back the time you miss with them (and that's coming from someone who has previously always been very career minded!!).

Full time all the way for me but only you know your own personal circumstances & what's best for your family.
