So I’ve been invitied to an interview on Friday for admin/reception at a GP office.

I’ve applied for so many jobs like this and never had an interview so it was a big shock. Not sure what questions to expect as I currently work as a support worker so any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks xx

I would imagine in that sort of setting, questions would be:

How do you deal with members of the public / people who are cross that their Dr is running late / other areas of people conflict.

How do you manage your time / juggle tasks and deadlines etc.

Probably some questions about your IT/typing skills (maybe).

Question(s) about your personality and what you can bring to the role / organisation etc.

Thanks so much, I just want to do really well because I’ve never been invited to an interview for this type of job before.

I would imagine given your support worker experience, you'll be very able to answer their questions and use your experience in the new role - just be confident with your answers and be sure to ask THEM questions as well Smile

Well done!

I'm sure there was a thread for an interview as a GP receptionist in the last year or so. I'll see if I can find it.

I did it for a while. Important things are confidentiality, dealing pleasantly with very stressed people(except when there are no appointments left...)

Can't find that particular thread, but googling it came up with lots of similar ones. Good luck!

Thanks everyone xx

Excellent! The first interview will be good preparation for the second. Good luck!

So I had the interview this morning and I think it went well, the staff were lovely and the questions were not very formal they were more about you as a person etc which was really nice because I felt I answered them well.

They also said they are hiring two people so I feel I have a good chance but it just depends what they are looking for and who I’m up against.

I’m feeling proper stressed because I think the interview went well but part of me doesn’t want to go back work sooner than planned. Part of me wants to turn down the job if offered because I want more time with the baby 😩.
