Has anyone been successful getting perm job via recruitment firm?

It’s been a while but I’m looking for perm work and have signed up to few agencies but they seem more keen to throw me into temp arena, although I would consider temp to perm role. Applying for many perm roles online but don’t get call backs.

I’m just wondering whether agencies can get perm admin work for me as I’ve been made redundant. The thought of temping again after 15yrs of perm feels me with dread and I prefer stability but don’t know f they will find me anything on perm front so also applying directly.

Has anyone had luck on perm side?

I did a lot of temping years ago and found it a good way to "try before you buy", because in most temp jobs I was offered permanent work after a while. I turned down many until I found a company/job I enjoyed. That said, I had less commitments and lower bills back then so it was easy to risk it.

When I moved to a new area I was a temp, but left this for a maternity leave job which I stayed in for five years.

Both were in cities and the job market was good back then. I worked in in-house Recruitment for years. Pinpoint companies and roles you'd like, find out the name of the recruitment H.R. person and hand in your CV. Although I received 100's of CV's a a week, I always remembered those who made the extra effort. Companies also like to avoid paying agencies!

Good luck, hope you find something and love it.

Thanks for this. Back in the day I temped a fair bit too and eventually got a temp to perm position which set me up for next 15yrs of stability. It’s scary going down temp route but you’re right when you say “try before buy”, I guess just see and try have faith something good will eventually happen
