How do apprenticeships work?

DD1 has seen an apprenticeship that she really quite likes the idea of. However, it's to do a level 2 qualification and she's currently a year into a level 3 at college.

Can she approach the employer and ask if she can do a level 3 instead, or does it not work like that?

Does the qualification that they do count towards UCAS points? She's just finishing a Btec 90 credit diploma worth 1 1/2 A levels, but has another year before going to Uni and wondered if this would make up the additional marks whilst doing something she would really enjoy? Or has she got to stay at college if she wants to go down the Uni route?

Can she talk to the employers, as I suppose if she got on well they might consider a degree apprenticeship... or is that not allowed?

Confused! Confused

IF the level 3 is in a different subject then no, she cannot transfer she would need to do L2.
I think she needs to stick at her current course to get into Uni.
