Social services and DBS check

I've been offered a job working in a pre school and am really pleased.

I have no criminal record or convictions but a year ago I had a bit of a breakdown, went out and got drunk and did some cocaine. When I went to the doctors for some help it was flagged up to social services who opened a child in need case. This was soon closed as I posed no risk to my children (they weren't with me at the time) and i was also diagnosed with bi polar 2. I have been stable for a year now, I don't drink and take regular medication.

At the time this happened I was also working in a school and because of this social services decided to tell them what happened. Again this was investigated and I was found not guilty of posing any risk to children and I wasn't even suspended while Thai went on. The school have said that they will not be allowed to disclose What happened to anyone asking for a reference but that it may show up on my DBS?? I have tried to find out some info on this and it looks like the police can disclose any information held on file about me even if I wasn't convicted of anything. Does anyone l ow if this is likely to show up? School said it was unlikely but I'm really worried!

I'm confused.. did you get arrested? Or just told your doctor you had taken drugs. AFAIK if you've not been in trouble with the police it won't show on a DBS?

A DBS check is purely to disclose anything illegal, which would have resulted from contact with the police. It will not disclose anything to do with social services or your medical history.

No I didn't get arrested, just told the docs who then told ss. I thought it was just for convictions but I think they hold any other relevant info on file and disclose if deemed necessary.

You will be fine. DBS is if you've been arrested. Mine came back clear even though I had SS involvement

It won't show on your dbs. I had a child in need plan put in place years ago and have had a 2 clear dbs checks since
