Applying for jobs

Hi, sorry I’ve probably not put this in the right section.

Basically I’m looking for a new job, not sure what yet but a completely different field of what I have experience in. I’ve only ever worked in child care but I feel it’s time for a change.

My CV is all up to date but my question is what do you put on a cover letter when you have no experience in the role your applying for? I’ve tried looking on the internet but the sample templates are rubbish. If any one is good at these types of things I’d be really grateful! TIA

Your cover letter is a chance to talk about your skills and motivation in more detail. So a CV should be very matter of fact, what you did when, 2 pages best but 3 pages max if you have to.
The letter is more of why you want the job, what’s motivated you to apply and why you would be good at it, and then how you feel your skills match what they’re asking - a good opportunity to discuss your transferable skills if you’re trying to move into something new. What have you lead? Where have you had an impact? Look at the key criteria listed and think about how you can demonstrate an ability.
