Hi,

I work for what is effectively a lettings agency as a property manager. When I first started there was a team of 4 - finance guy, Lettings Assistant, Repairs and maintenance girl and I was doing 1/2 Lettings 1/2 R&M. Within 5 months there were two of us doing a workload of atleast 3, if not 4. Then my wage was increased.

In January 2 became 1 so there's only me left managing lettings, utilities, repairs and more for 19 multiple occupancy houses with 110 tenants. In April i will have been here 2 years. My wage has been increased by £1000 which still leaves me well below national average for my position.

I don't get commission, have been on 24 hour call everyday since the 8th Jan, do all of the out of hours viewings etc and I feel really under valued and slightly insulted that they think gaining another person's workload is only worth £1000.

Am I expecting too much?

Of course not. And you need an assistant AND a pay rise.

They're taking the piss. But then that's exactly what letting agents do routinely to tenants, so I'm unsurprised they're doing it to staff too.

I'd be looking for another job.
