I’m a contractor, not an employee and all my communication is by email or face to face.

Would be a bit weird to hand them a letter Confused

Email is totally fine, but I'd have a conversation first and the. have the email ready to send them immediately afterwards as formal confirmation.

I was a contractor and sent mine in via email.

Sure, that's totally normal. That's the most common way that i've had people send their resignations to me across many different companies I've worked at.

They usually put 'Sorry...' in the subject line, so if you ever want to shit your employer up, that's how Grin
