Should I stay in Spain or begin my teaching career properly in Scotland?

I'm teaching English in Madrid, Spain, right now (both young learners, adults and teenagers). I love being in Spain generally, but intended to come back to Scotland this Summer to move in with my boyfriend. However he threw me a massive curveball by breaking up with me and as it turns out, leaving me for someone else...

So I'm a bit all over the place with deciding my next step. I'm 26, 27 towards the end of this year. Silly as it sounds, I feel I'm edging closer to 30 and know I want to have a family by 30/early 30s if I can actually meet a decent man to do it with! I also want to have a decent career and really enjoy teaching (am also a journalist and trying to launch my career freelance at the moment).

I suppose I'd love to stay in Spain for another year, but the one thing really stopping me is the lack of career progression available. Should I be grateful for the time I've spent here, buck up and move back to the UK to begin my career properly and put some roots down? Has anyone else ever been in a similar position that can share their story?
